Guangxi Vocational College of Water Resources and Electric Power was founded in 1956. It is the only state-run full-time higher vocational college in Guangxi with disciplines focusing on hydraulic engineering and electrical engineering.
Guangxi Vocational College of Water Resources and Electric Power is located in Nanning, a green city of China, a national civilized city, and the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The college consists of Changgang and Lijian two campuses covering around 74 hectares (1,100.13 mu), with gross floor area of 370,000 square meters. There are more than 18,000 full-time students. The college has eight departments and two teaching divisions including Department Of Hydraulic Engineering, Department Of Electric Power Engineering, Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Department of Automation Engineering, Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Department of Economic Management, Department of Automotive Engineering, Teaching Division of General Courses and the Division of Ideological and Political Courses. The college offers 53 majors including Water Conservancy and Hydropower Construction Engineering, Power Plants and Power Systems, etc. The college has cooperated with Beibu Gulf University of China to set up 11 undergraduate majors, such as Water Conservancy and Hydropower Construction Engineering, Water Conservancy and Hydropower Project Management, and Water Conservancy Engineering, etc. Moreover, with Guilin University of Electronic Technology of China, the college has developed a pilot program for the integration between industry and education to co-cultivate application-oriented undergraduate talents. The college also has conducted extensive exchanges and cooperation with Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Korea, Australia, Germany, Taiwan of China and other countries and regions. In the past three years, the school’s training quality has been steadily improved with graduates’ “dual-certificates" rate reaching 99.69%, average year-end employment rate 95%, and the major-job matching rate remaining above 85%. The school is a training base for high-quality technical talents in the hydropower industry of Guangxi, and has played a leading and exemplary role in the reform and development among similar colleges in Guangxi and even the whole nation.
